The picnic scene from the episode 'Et in Arcadia Ego'. "Just the place to bury a crock of gold" Sebastian said. "I should like to bury something precious in every place that I've been happy and then, when I'm old and ugly and miserable, I could come back and dig it up and remember."

Is that house ?
My wife and I are both devotees of House, M.D. Hugh Laurie's American accent is so perfect, so authentic, and so unforced, that my wife could not believe her ears when I played this clip for her.

Holy crap, he's young there.

"Too many words, not enough notes"
1:24 is literally me learning anything at all on the piano heheh
Spring is here... revisiting Brideshead 1981 ... Castle Howard... splendid times !
Reminds me time to binge watch J&W again!
The best intro of this funny show..! 😃
Плохо, конечно, что субтитры в этом видео отсутствуют....
what a great singer, would be a shame if something happened to his leg
Wait... is this actually Hugh Laurie playing/singing 🤔
But it's not 5/4 time. A rare faux-pas by Jeeves there.
I wish they'd written a full song for "Putting on the Regency"
Hugh Laurie looks like a skinny Herman Munster 😅
"With due expediency...putting on the regency!" 🎶 Oh my goodness, this show is GOLDEN. 🤣
It started with the original, then went to the 40’s rewrite. Then, they added regency.
I love how Irving Berlin completely foxes Bertie
Fry and Laurie were Jeeves and Wooster before they were Jeeves and Wooster.
"Very true."
Oh, Sie sind also Pariser. Es ist mit so einem spanischen Akzent
Per primo, questa canzone l' ha cantata e ballata Clark Gable! In a movie°•
Have any grey poupon? Put some on a Ritz!
I think Jeeves is wrong about the 5s. I think it's 3-4-3-4-2
I thought the guy playing the piano was a young Dr House!
I never saw Hugh prior to House. Zero humor in that character, but most early work I've seen was comedy. Was his pre-House work mostly comedy?
Pretty much, he was also in Blackadder, and a Bit of Fry and Laurie
He is so awesome
Whenever I hear this song I'm reminded of the Young Frankenstein movie, in which Gene Wilder and Peter Boyle perform the song on stage as Frederick Frankenstein and the Monster.
Rizz House
alll wrong. jeeves was the uncle bertie never had. bertie rarely speeaks of his father and never of his mother. jeeves is at least 15 years older than bertie.
Hugh Laurie is a very capable pianist. Before they made Jeeves and Wooster, Fry and Laurie had a very funny sketch show, and did stand up together. I reccommend Hugh playing a song called "Mystery".
I typed “Dr house putting on the ritz” 🤣
It's not in 5/4 tho....
It's syncopated, but it's not 5/4. Still a brilliant clip though!
I see this clip and think 'yawn.' Then I play it. It NEVER fails to spark a smile😁😁😁 Fantastic team.
Would have liked to watch all of it.
I have loved Masterpiece Theater back in the 1990's. I believe that Wooster was trying to do an 1982 hit song from Taco.😆
Fry also can play a piano but won't because he's not very good and can't sing.
the best comedians are also musicians or musical background. it just goes hand in hand. if you dont have it in you, you are not gonna make it. it just doesnt work
How many time had this serie?
It's amazing how fit they both are for their roles. It's as if Wodehouse had them particularly in mind. Fry _is_ Jeeves and Laurie _is_ Wooster. 😄
100%. And by this time they had a nearly 10-year working partnership, so it's not as though they could have been chosen independently. To have found a performing pair that were so perfectly cast... was astonishing. Loved this series since I first saw it back at the start of the 90s.
I discovered Jeeves and Wooster in the summer of 1966 while spending a week with my friend and her family at the beach. I bought several paperbacks at a local drugstore. Awesome.
Soneone tell my why, in British show, is the setting NYC?
There's no rule that you can't set stories in foreign cities. A few episodes in series three are set in New York, because that's where Bertie is staying in order to escape Aunt Agatha's attempts to get him to marry Honoria Glossop.
Wodehouse set many a Jeeves 'n Wooster story in the big 🍎 in the jazz age. Wodehouse despite being the most quintessentially English comic writers was a lot more at ease in the new world where it was easier for a man to redefine & invent himself than it ever was in pre 60s stuffy old England.
Hugh i will always love you and your amazing talent
David McCallum (Ducky Mallard on "NCIS") is also a brilliant musician!
Obviously aging myself, but I think of him as Illya Kuryakin from "The Man from U.N.C.L.E."! Did not know he was a musician, too! Thanks!
@ObservantHistorian I think of him as Steel in Sapphire and Steel. He was also in Colditz but I forget the name of the role he played.
Помню по «Культуре» в далеком детстве крутили этот сериал, и заставка вместе с этим эпизодом осталась в памяти.
Just think Hugh Laurie is A Dr. Strange of another dimension
